U.S. Navy veteran during World War II. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ The Bonham Daily Favorite, Bonham, Texas, Sunday, April 27, 1986, Page 2 Glen D. Porter Funeral services for Glen D. Porter, 65, will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Wise Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Willow Wild Cemetery. Porter passed away Friday morning at Fannin County Hospital. He was born in Melissa on Oct. 30, 1920, the son of Samuel S. and Nola Reneau Porter. He was a graduate of McKinney High School. He married Gladys Lewis on April 1, 1944 in Salisbury, Md. Mr. Porter was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and served in the Naval Reserve after the war. He was an accountant for TP&L, retiring in July 1983, after 36 years, 20 of which were spent in Bonham. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Kiwanis, Bonham Water Authority Board, Boy Scouts of America and the Hwy. 82 Construction Project. He was a past president of the Lions Club and served many years as an election judge. He is survived by his widow of the home; son, Douglas Porter of Mesquite; daughter, Juanita Williams of Dodd City; brother, Sam Porter of Lewisville; sisters, Mary Helen Norris of Irving, Clara Rogers of McKinney and Brenda Thompson of Plano; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. The family will be at Wise Funeral Home from 6-8 p.m. Sunday.
