Bio
Mary Ann Hoelscher, 78, of Cyclone, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at her residence. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Cyclone with the Rev. Walter Matus officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. A rosary will be recited 7 p.m. Friday at Cook-Gerngross-Green-Patterson Funeral Home in Rosebud. Mary Ann was born in Cyclone, Texas, to the late Ed and Antonie Sula Doskocil. She lived in Cyclone all of her life, and on Nov. 22, 1949, she married James Hoelscher. Mary Ann was an active partner in all aspects of the farm operation. She received the Lumen Gentium award from the Diocese of Austin in 2009 and was a member of the KJZT, St. Joseph's Catholic Church and St. Joseph's Altar Society. Mary Ann loved fishing, dancing, gardening, wine making and cooking for family and friends. She especially loved being a mom, grandmother and great-grandmother. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. She was preceded in death by her husband, James; a son, Joseph Hoelscher; and a grandson, Kevin Hoelscher. She is survived by sons, Charles Hoelscher and wife, Lee Ann, Alan Hoelscher and wife, Margie, all of Cyclone, Glenn Hoelscher and wife, Lisa, of Lorena, and Marvin Hoelscher, of Grapevine; daughters, Teresa Hoelscher, Judy Hoelscher, both of Temple, and Joan Sykora and husband, Mike, of Lorena; 18 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben Doskocil, of Arlington, Tony Doskocil, of Temple, and Clarence Doskocil, of Waco; and several nieces, nephews and other family members. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Joseph's Catholic Church Building Fund, 20120 FM 485, Burlington, TX 76519, or to St. Vincent de Paul (Food Pantry), 106 W. Ave D, Temple, TX 76504.
