An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, 6-8-1972: Mrs. Richard Sexton, 71, died suddenly at 4 p. m. Friday of an apparent heart attack at her home, 303 West Bridge Street. She had lived in Gatesville nearly all her life. Funeral services, held at 2 p. m. Sunday in Scott's Funeral Home chapel, were conducted hy Rev. Bob Richmond. Burial was in Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Sexton, the former Miss Dollie May Patterson, was born in Coryell County on June 16, 1901. She was reared in Gatesville and was married to Richard Sexton Dec. 12, 1919. They lived in Ranger for many years before returning to Gatesville to make their home. Mr. Sexton died in 1945. Mrs. Sexton was a member of the Methodist Church. She is survived by seven sons, Richard Clyde Sexton of Glen Rose, Raymon R. Sexton of Pecos, Norman Don Sexton of Lewisville, Rex Von Sexton of Lampasas and Garland Troy Sexton, Norris Sexton and Billy Carl Sexton, all of Gatesville; a brother, Sam Patterson of Gatesville; one sister, Mrs. Nora Hagan of Gatesville; 15 grandchildren and six greatgrandchildren. One son, Lloyd James Sexton, died in 1969. Pallbearers for Mrs. Sexton's funeral were grandsons — Jimmy Ray Sexton, Richard Sexton, Terry Sexton, Larry Sexton, James Sexton and Ronald Sexton.
