An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Thursday, November 22, 1973: Funeral services for Mrs. J. A. (Nettie) Doherty, 58, of Levita were held at 2 p.m. Friday in Scott's Funeral Home chapel. The rites were conducted by Rev. G. L. Derrick and burial was in Restland Cemetery. Mrs. Doherty died early Thursday in the local hospital. She was born Nettie Geneva Maxwell in Gatesville on June 15, 1915. She married J. A. Doherty Sept, 15,1934, and they lived in Haskell County until 1949, when they returned to Coryell County. Mrs. Doherty was a member of the Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband of Levita; a nephew, Montie Doyle Maxwell of Levita; four brothers, Milton Maxwell of Jacksonville, W. B. Maxwell of Gatesville, Stephen Maxwell of Gatesville and Clifford Maxwell of King; and five sisters, Mrs. Inez Argrabright of McGregor, Mrs. Annie Argrabright of McGregor, Mrs. Ray Agnes Hodge of Gatesville, Mrs. Stella Mae Brown of Fort Gates and Mrs. Ida Belle Pruitt of Fort Gates. Pallbearers for Mrs. Doherty's funeral were Jack Glaze, W. C. Fowler, R. T. Rauschenberg, Joe Bailey Rauschenberg, Gerald Kitchens and Eugene Vines.
