An Obituary from "Gatesville Messenger & Star Forum," Wednesday, April 17, 1996: Ray Agnes Hodge of Gatesville died April 11 at Coryell Memorial Hospital. She was 84. Graveside services were held Saturday in Restland Cemetery with the Rev. M.V. Hemphill officiating. She was born on Feb. 3, 1912, in Coryell County to the late James and Essie Maxwell. She was reared and attended school in the Fort Gates community. She married Thomas A. Hodge on May 9, 1942. Her husband preceded her in death on Oct. 16, 1988. A lifelong resident of Coryell County, she was a homemaker and a Baptist. Survivors include one sister, Ida B. Weems of Fort Worth; and three brothers, W.B. Maxwell, Stephen Maxwell and Clifford Maxwell, all of Gatesville.
