Bio

Death Claims Very Worthy Young Man Frank W. Janek, well and favorably known to most of our citizens, died at his home in this city on Monday morning, February 28, at the age of 35 years, 4 months and 3 days. Frank was born October 24, 1885, and was reared in this city. Thirteen years ago he was married to Miss Sophia Janak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jos. F. Janak. To this union one son was born--Harry, who is now eleven years of age. He was a most worthy and capable young businessman and had held responsible positions with a number of business firms in the city. About eighteen months ago he removed to Navasota, where he had a good position, but his health failed, and he went to West Texas in the hope that he would be benefited. Not finding the improvement he had expected, he returned here and had been taking special treatments for two or three months. He seemed to have been improving until about a week before his death when he began rapidly to decline. This continued until the above date when he quietly passed away. Funeral service was held at the home Tuesday morning at 9:30, and at the Catholic church at 10 o'clock, conducted by Rev. Joseph Pelnar, Rev. P.A. Heckman, and Rev. Molloy. Internment was made in the Catholic cemetery following the service, in the presence of a large number of friends and relatives. Members of the fire department, of which Frank had long been a valued member, acted as pallbearers, the firemen attending the service in a body. Surviving are his wife and little son; two brothers, Rudolph and Ed; three sisters, Mrs. Jerome Janak, Mrs. John Gerik, and Mrs. Joe Gerik. Many beautiful floral offerings attested, to some extent, to the esteem in which he was held.
