Bio

Anton Cocek, Sr., Former Westonian, Buried Here Tues. Funeral services were held in West Tuesday for Anton Cocek, Sr., who was a citizen of West for a number of years before moving to Waco. Mr. Cocek died suddenly of heart trouble at his home at 1004 South Third St. at 1:45 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Services were held in the chapel of the Aderhold Funeral Home at 9:30 o'clock Tuesday morning and at the Church of the Assumption at 10 o'clock with the Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. The rosary was said at 8 o'clock Monday night at the chapel. Interment was at the Catholic cemetery. Surviving ae his widow, Mrs. Julia Cocek; three daughters, Mrs. Frank Concillo of Waco, Mrs. D. E. Howard of Houston, Mrs. S. H. Johnson, Jr., of Waco; two sons, Sgt. Emmett J. Cocek of Camp Chaffie, Ark. and S/Sgt. Anton Cocek, Jr. , U.S. Army in Belgium; two brothers, Frank Cocek, Sr., of West and Louis Cocek of Pearland; and one sister, Mrs. Francis Merenda of West. Pallbearers were Emmett L. Barton, John A. Sulak, Ben J. Vanzura, Fred Vana, Elo Zatopek and Robert Cervenka. Mr. Cook was born in West but for the past 31 years has made his home in Waco.
