Louis J. (Fuzzy) Soukup, age 72, of Lancaster, formerly of West, died Tuesday afternoon, December 19, 1989, at his residence. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Friday in Kotch Funeral Home Chapel, West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Soukup was born on September 23, 1917, near West. He had been a resident of the Lancaster area for the past 50 years and was a mechanic at Horn-Williams Ford in Dallas for 35 years. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the U.S. Army, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 4370. He married Mary Rhodes on November 21, 1949 in West. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church in Lancaster. Survivors include his wife; three sons, Darrell Pilgrim of Cedar Hill, Jerry Pilgrim of Houston and Ronnie Soukup of Duncanville; two daughters, Linda Grimm of Waco and Christina Sims of Lancaster; four brothers, Joe F. Soukup of Abbott, Johnny Soukup of New Braunfels, Alfons Soukup of Robinson and Steve Soukup of San Antonio; five sisters, Mrs. Steve (Katie) Kaska of Abbott, Mrs. Jerome (Hattie) Kaska of West, Mrs. Raymond (Rosie) Knapek of Axtell, Mrs. Steve (Mary) Neckar of Lorena and Mrs. Raymond (Lillian) Matus of West; eight grandchildren and one-great-grandchild. Pallbearers were Richard Soukup, Danny Neckar, Ronnie Kaska, Alvin Soukup, George Soukup, Jr., and Jimmy Matus.
