Bio
Mary Margaret Soukup, 85, of Ferris, Texas, passed away Tuesday, May 26, 2009, at her residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery in West. The family will receive visitors 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Mary was born in Groesbeck, Texas, to the late Boyd and Ethel Rhodes. On Nov. 21, 1949, she was united in marriage to Louis Soukup in West. She was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, canning, playing bingo, and she especially loved spending time with her family. She was a member of the Western Fraternal Life Association Lodge #401 in Dallas. Preceding her in death was her husband on Dec. 19, 1989; a sister, Juanita Robinson; and a brother, Buddy Rhodes. Survivors include sons, Darrell Pilgrim and wife, Mary, of Dallas, Jerry Pilgrim and wife, Monnie, of Bullard, Texas, and Ronnie Soukup and wife, Sherry, of Duncanville, Texas; daughters, Linda Grimm, of Waco, and Christina Sims of Ferris; eight grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; brother, Kelton Rhodes of Dallas; sister, Muzette Hartnett, of Burleson; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
