Henry A. (Hambone) Snokhous, age 70 of West, died Friday morning, December 19, 1997 at Hillcrest Medical Center at West. Rosary was recited at 2 p.m. December 21 in St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. Mass of Christian Burial followed at 2:15 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military graveside rites, conducted by VFW Post No. 4819 followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Snokhous was born June 8, 1927 in West and had lived in the West area all of his life. He went to work for Adams Chevrolet in West in 1942 and worked for and was the service manager for Scott Chevrolet and Jerrel Bolton Chevrolet and also worked as a salesman for Bolton Chevrolet. He married Elsie Dolesal at West, November 24, 1948. She preceded him in death, June 25, 1978. He was also preceded in death by a grandson, Jason Snokhous, who died December 16, 1993. Mr. Snokhous was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305 of West. He was also a veteran of World War II serving in the Army, a member of VFW Post No. 4819 and was a member of the West Volunteer Fire Department for 42 years. He is survived by his fiance, Nollie Odle of Waco; four sons, Dwain Snokhous of West, Tim Snokhous and wife Cindy of West, Eddie Snokhous and wife Jana of Abbott, Gary Snokhous and wife Paula of Aquilla; two daughters, Jackie Neill and husband Robert of Austin and Judy Knapek of West; one sister, Marie Crozier and husband John of Arlington; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Active pallbearers were David Snokhous, Doug Snokhous, Ted Kostohryz, David Scott, Mark Snokhous, Robert Snokhous, David Pareya and Darren Bohannon. Honorary pallbearers were employees of Jerrel Bolton Chevrolet, members of VFW Post No. 4819, West Volunteer Fire Department, Knights of Columbus Council No. 2305, and Raymond Snokhous and JImmy Daniel.
