John J. Mynar, Sr., 74, of Rt. 2, West, died Saturday, April 22, 1989, at a West hospital. Rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Sunday by Msgr. George Doskocil, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Ray Widacki, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mr. Mynar was born October 26, 1914, in the West area, where he lived all his life. He attended Liberty Grove, St. Joseph and Cottonwood schools. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mr. Mynar married Lillie M. Kolar on November 11, 1947. He was a farmer and manager of Farmer's Gin Co. in West for many years. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of KJT Society #31, SPJST #54, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4819, the American Legion, the West Bass Club, the West Longhorn Club, and the West Fair and Rodeo Association. Survivors include his wife; six sons, William Mynar of Chalk Bluff, Danny R. Mynar of Penelope, and Johnny J. Mynar, Jr., George M. Mynar, Joe Frank Mynar and Anthony C. Mynar, all of West; a daughter, Mrs. Mary Ann Neckar of Tours; two brothers, Edward V. Mynar and Frank R. Mynar, both of West; seven sisters, Rosie Urbish, Mary Lander, Lillie Hromadka, Agnes Atkins and Frances Chase, all of West, Willie Mae Cervenka of Waco, and Josephine Smith of Dallas; and 14 grandchildren. Pallbearers were Frankie Joe Mynar, Robert Atkins, Rodger Chase, Charlie Kolar, Thomas Mynar, Ronnie Cervenka, Raymond Joe Hromadka and Harry Kolar. Honorary Pallbearers were KJT Society #31, American Legion #478 and members of VFW Post #4819. Kotch Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
