Louis W. Matus, 80, of West, a retired farmer, died February 7, 1987 at a Waco hospital. Rosary was recited at 6 p.m. Feb. 8 at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Feb. 9 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in West, the Rev. Ray Widacki as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Matus was born November 25, 1906, in Shiner. He had lived in West the last 65 years. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the KJY Society No. 31. Survivors include a son, Raymond J. Matus of West; two brothers, Leo Matus of Waco and Charles Matus of West; two sisters, Frances Blahuta and Mary Ann Looka, both of West; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Willie Rejcek, Alphonse Rejcek, Billy Wolf, Edward Zahirniak, Mike Grimm and Eugene Roznos.
