Mrs. Charlie (Hattie) Matus, age 85 of West, passed away Friday morning, April 28, 2000 in West Rest Haven. Rosary was recited 1 p.m. Sunday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:15 p.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. Ed Karasek, as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mrs. Matus was born July 20, 1914 in West to Louis and Mary Kohut. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, the KJZT Society #11 and Catholic Daughters of America Court #829 of West. She was a seamstress at Woods Sewing Factory and Lorches for 15 years. She married Charlie Matus, August 6, 1966 at West. They then moved to Hillsboro, where they owned and operated Cen-Tex Seed and Delenting in which she worked in the office, retiring in 1975. Mr. Matus preceded her in death September 17, 1987. She is survived by one nephew, Raymond J. Matus of West; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Frances Blahuta of West and Mrs. Felix (Gladys) Matus of Hillsboro and several nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were Steve Matus, Eddie Morris, Leo Rejcek, Edward Rejcek, Richard Matus and Rudolph Rejcek. Honorary Pallbearers were members of Catholic Daughters of America Court #829.
