Bio

Mrs. Martha Macicek, 87, of West passed away Monday afternoon, December 6, 2004, at a Waco hospital. She was born December 24, 1916, near West, daughter of the late Vinc and Christine Hutyra, and lived in the Chatt community from 1946 until 2001, at which time she moved to West. She married Frank Macicek November 12, 1935, in West, and they ran the Chatt Grocery and Station from 1946 until 1953. While living in Chatt, she was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church of Abbott, its Altar Society and choir. After moving to West, she became a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. She was also a member of the KJZT Society of Abbott. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Hutyra and Edwin Hutyra; and one sister, Mary Vanek. She was an extraordinarily loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Survivors include: her loving husband of 69 years, Frank Macicek; one daughter, Helen Reifein and husband, Will, of Dallas; two sons, Marvin Macicek and wife, Janelle, of Richardson and Larry Macicek and wife, Charla, of Houston; one brother, Robert Hutyra and wife, Betty, of West; several nieces and nephews; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, 2004, at Kotch Funeral Home Chapel in West. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, December 9, 2004, at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant.
