Bio

Robert V. Hutyra, 87, of West, passed away Saturday, July 8, 2006, in Temple. Rosary will be recited 6:30 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home followed by visitation until 8 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Military graveside rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery conducted by VFW Post #4819. Robert Vincent was born near West, Texas, to the late Vinc and Christine (Ondrej) Hutyra. Robert served his country with the 143rd Medical Regiment of the 36th Division of the United States Army during World War II. He participated in campaigns in Africa and Italy, and received a Purple Heart for wounds received. On November 14, 1942 he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Macicek in Waco. He worked as a lab technician at the Waco Veterans Hospital for over twenty-five years before retiring in 1970. Robert enjoyed fishing, hunting, farming, and raising cattle. He was a member of VFW Post #4819 in West, a life member of the Purple Heart Association Lodge No 476, and the R.V.O.S. Lodge. He was also a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. He was preceded in death by brothers, Edwin Hutyra and Jerry Hutyra; and sisters, Mary Vanek and Martha Macicek. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Elizabeth, of West; son, Robert J. Hutyra and his wife, Georgia, of West; daughters, Margaret Kubala and her husband, Kenneth, and Theresa Hutyra, all of West; grandchildren, Rodney Hutyra and his wife, Aimee, Michael Hutyra, Kristie Bryant and her husband, Blake, Angela Kubala, Kenneth Kubala, Jr., and Andrea Kubala; great-grandchildren, Lucas Bryant and Cole Bryant; several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
