Valentine Lichnovsky died at his home in West at 7 p.m. on Monday. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Catholic Church at West. Father E. W. Polcak officiating; burial in the Catholic cemetery. Mr. Lichnovsky was born in Czechoslovakia and had lived in this country and around West for the past 47 years. Lichnovsky, Local Czech Pioneer, Buried Wednesday Valentine Lichnovsky, 92, the oldest Czech pioneer of this community, passed away at the home of his son, Frank Lichnovsky, at 7 o'clock Monday evening after being in ill health for a number of months. Funeral services were conducted from the Lichnovsky residence at 9:30 o'clock and at the local Catholic Church at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning with the Rev. E.J. Polcak officiating. Interment was at the Catholic Cemetery near West. Surviving are his daughter, Mrs. Rosa Soukup; two sons, Frank Lichnovsky of West and Jeff Lichnovsky of Waco; 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. Mr. Lichnovsky was born in Moravia, Czechoslovakia on February 13, 1852. He married Miss Rosalie Bartos and a few years later with his wife and five children came to Texas, moving to West in 1897. He farmed in this community for 27 years, and for the past 20 years made his home with his son, Frank, in West.
