Robert J. Karlik, age 69 of Arlington, formerly of West, passed away Sunday, February 24, 2002 at his residence. Rosary will be recited 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:15 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites, conducted by VFW Post #4819 of West, will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in West. Mr. Karlik was born April 7, 1932 at West and had lived in Arlington for a number of years. He was a graduate of Aquilla High School and was employed with General Motors Corporation in Arlington for thirty eight years, retiring February 1, 1994. He was a veteran serving in the US Air Force, at Carswell Air Force Base and Korea and Japan. He was a member of VFW Post #4819 of West, a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West and the Catholic Workman Society Branch #77 of West. Mr. Karlik was preceded in death by his sister, Jo Ann Karlik, who died May 26, 1956; his father, Frank J. Karlik, died December 6, 1986; his mother, Willie Mae Karlik who died February 6, 1994 and brother, Frank J. Karlik, Jr. who died October 12, 1995. He is survived by two brothers, William Karlik and wife Jeanette, Wayne Karlik and wife Karen, all of West; a sister, Irene King and husband Jim of South Lake, Texas; a sister-in-law, Mary Karlik of West and several nieces and nephews. Active Pallbearers are Frank J. Karlik, III, Charlie Karlik, Bobby Craig, Jimmy Dulock, Britt Craig and Bradley Dulock. Honorary Pallbearers will be the members of VFW Post #4819 of West. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Kotch Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
