Mass of Christian Burial: 10:45 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial: St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Aderhold Funeral Home in West. Rosary: 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the church. Mrs. King was born Nov. 17, 1946, in Waco, the daughter of Frank and Wilamena Karlik. She graduated from West High School in 1965 as salutatorian of her class. She attended the University of Texas and graduated in 1971 with a bachelor's degree in journalism. She married James B. King on April 28, 1973, in West. She worked as an executive editor for the Cable Connection Magazine in Tyler for 10 years. Irene loved to read, sew, do needlework and enjoyed sitting and listening to the birds sing outside. She belonged to the American Cancer Society support group, where she received much love and support throughout her long battle with cancer. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert Karlik and Frank Karlik Jr.; and sister, Josephine Ann Karlik. Survivors: Her beloved husband, Jim King of Southlake: daughters, Kimberly Ann King and fiance, Michael Prezioso, of Euless, Michelle Lynn King of Endicott, N.Y., and Kristin Lee King of Corpus Christi; brothers, Bill Karlik and wife, Jeanette, and Cyril Wayne Karlik and wife, Karen, all of West; and several nieces and nephews.
