Bio

Mrs. Eugene (Helen) Hromadka, age 71, of West, passed away early Thursday morning, February 21, 2002 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Melvin Dornak as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Hromadka was born on October 29, 1930 in West, the daughter of Bob and Antonie Kramolis. She attended Alligator School. She married Eugene Adolph Hromadka on November 28, 1950 in Abbott. He preceded her in death on March 31, 1987. Helen was a homemaker and loved sewing, cooking, gardening, embroidery and spending time with her family. She enjoyed going out and sitting and listening to Czech music. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. She is preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Kramolis, who passed away on January 18, 2002. She is survived by one son, Ricky Hromadka of Waco; four daughters, Mary Allen and Charles, and Betty Hromadka, all of West, Denise Matus of Abbott and Sharon Hromadka of Waco; two brothers, Daniel Kramolis of Abbott and Bobby Kramolis of Lacy Lakeview; two sisters, Rosalie Kramolis and Barbara Matus, both of Elm Mott; five grandchildren, Lindsey Hromadka, Katherine Marie Hill, Aaron Allen, Darren Kocurek and Greg Matus; and several nieces and nephews. Pallbearers were Robert Hutyra, Greg Matus, Billy Kral, Gray Kramolis, Terry Kramolis and Ronnie Matus. Aderhold Funeral Home in West was in charge of arrangements.
