Mrs. John (Hattie) Hanzlicek, 82, of Route 1, Penelope, died Saturday, November 21, 1987, at her residence. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Catholic Church of the Nativity B.V.M., in Penelope. Mass of Christian burial was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, November 24 at the Catholic Church of the Nativity, B.V.M., with Rev. Gary Geurtz as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery, West. Mrs. Hanzlicek was born May 25, 1905, in West. She had been a resident of Penelope the last 41 years. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Nativity, B.V.M., the Altar Society, the KJZT Society and the Catholic Daughters of America Court. She was married to John Hanzlicek August 21, 1923, at West; he died Sept. 26, 1963. She was also preceded in death by a son, Johnny Hanzlicek, Dec. 2, 1984. Survivors include five sons, Edwin Hanzlicek and Leo Hanzlicek, both of Penelope, Bennie Hanzlicek and George Hanzlicek, both of West, and Herman Hanzlicek of Fort Worth; four daughters, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Johnson of Burleson, Mrs. Daniel (Helen) Cepak of Bellmead, Mrs. Edmund (Estelle) Marek of Penelope and Mrs. Bernard (Hattie) Kadlubar of Lake Charles, La.; a sister, Mrs. Joe (Estelle) Wachsmann of Lott; 28 grandchildren; and 39 great-grandchildren. Pallbearers were Tommy Johnson, Danny Cepak, George Hanzlicek, Jr., Ronnie Hanzlicek, John Ondrej, Chad Hanzlicek, Johnny Hanzlicek, Jr., and Danny Kadlubar. Honorary pallbearers were James Johnson, David Johnson, Darrel Johnson, Bernie Kadlubar, Bobby Guinn, Ralph Wright, Mark Halamik, Ray Parma, Larry Podsednik, Dennis Debbendener, Donnie Glatter, Leo Wilkerson, Tommy Alred and Harry Gene Hanzlicek.
