William Christopher "Bill" Grellhesl, age 90, of West, passed away early Tuesday evening, April 11, 2017 at West Rest Haven in West. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, with Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrant. Military Graveside Rites will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, conducted by the West Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Aderhold Funeral Home. William was born June 24, 1926 near Tours, the son of Mary (Seith) and Conrad Grellhesl, Sr. He attended schools in West. On November 7, 1949 he was united in marriage to Christine Svrcek in West. Christine preceded him in death on June 4, 2013. In service to his country, William joined the United States Army during World War II. He worked as a truck driver for McLennan County Precinct 3 on the road crew, fixing many bridges and roads. He also had worked for Mobil Gas in West, Cameron Mills in Waco and the AO Smith Bomb Plant. He and Christine cooked at many weddings, funerals, anniversaries and fundraisers. William liked delivering Meals on Wheels in West and made many friends along the way. He enjoyed gardening, taking care of his yard, shining up his vehicle, plants, dancing and especially loved spending time with his family. William was a devoted member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption. He was also a member of West V.F.W. Post 4819 and Catholic Life. William is also preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Conrad Grellhesl Jr., Alfonse Grellhesl, August Grellhesl, and Fred Grellhesl; and sisters, Hattie Stone, Agnes Neighbors, Annie Hubik and Rosalie Hutyra.
