Mary Ann Cocek Bledsoe, age 94 of Carrollton, formerly of West, passed away Wednesday night, May 3, 2000 in a Carrollton nursing home. Rosary was recited at 10 a.m. Saturday, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:15 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church of West, with the Rev. Ed Karasek as celebrant. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery. Mrs. Bledsoe was born September 1, 1905 in West and had lived in Austin most of her life, and a resident of Carrollton for the past eight years. She was employed with the Texas Employment Commission in Austin for a number of years, retiring in 1970. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna Catholic Church in Carrollton, Catholic Daughters of America Austin Court and a member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Austin. She worked as a volunteer in Seaton Hospital for a number of years. She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Katherine Cocek of Deer Park, New York and Georgia Cocek of Bishop; a nephew, Bernard Cocek and his wife Doris of Carrollton; one niece, Virginia Pickel and her husband George of Fair Oak, California and several great-nieces and nephews. Active pallbearers were George Pickel, Bruce Cocek, James Quilter, Eddie Archer, Clifford Archer and Christina Cocek Anderson. Kotch Funeral Home of West was in charge of arrangements.
