Obituary: THE REGISTER-GUARD Eugene, Lane Co., OR Wednesday, 17 April 1963 Melinda Frances Hawke of Route 2, Box 94, Eugene, passed away April 15, 1963 at a local hospital. She was born September 21, 1877 in Harrisburg. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Wallace Hawke December 9, 1945. She had been a resident of this community since 1922,and of the state her entire life. She was a member of the First Baptist Church, and an honorary Deaconess for life. She is survived by three sons: Fred of Riverside, California, Wayne of Albany, Donald of Junction City; two daughters: Nora Alice Holt of Salem, and Vernice Cook of Eugene; eight grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 1963 at 1 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Springfield, Reverend J. Melvin Elving officiating with interment to follow in the Alford Cemetery, Harrisburg. Buell Chapel in charge.
