Charley Sund was born in Pomerania Germany, March 27, 1871 and departed this life December 5, 1958 at his home in Guide Rock. He was aged 87 years, 8 months and 8 days. At the age of six weeks he came to America with his parents in 1871. They settled in Cook County, Illinois. They lived there until 1879, when they moved to Jewell County, Kansas, where he spent most of his life. He came to Guide Rock in 1920. He was married to Sylvia Beeler in 1904. To this union one son Jesse was born. Jesse now resides in Missouri. Charley Sunds' father and mother, three sisters and one brother preceded him in death. He leaves his son and daughter-in-law, Jesse and Dorothy Sund and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday, December 9th at 10:30 am at the Church of Christ in Guide Rock with sermon by Robert Granger. Two beautiful songs were sung by Mrs R A Norman with Mrs Ralph Portenier at the piano. Burial was made in the Guide Rock Cemetery. Pallbearers were Al Fringer, Mervin Zeigler, Jack Hagan, Earl Doughman, Frank Thompson and Louie Kiehl.
