Terrell Tribune,April 1,1955-"Funeral services will be held in Anderson-Clayton Terrell at 2:00 p.m. Friday for T. J. Brooks,77,who died Wednesday afternoon following an illness of several months. The Rev. Charles Mull will officiate and interment will be in Oakland Memorial Park. Thomas Joseph Brooks was born in Collin County,Texas on February 18,1878. The family moved to Kaufman County when he was one year old and he had remained a resident of Rose Hill,Lawrence,and Terrell the greater part of his life. He worked in the oil fields in Ranger,Texas for 17 years and later was employed at the Terrell Compress for eight years,retiring from this work more than two years ago. He was a member of the Christian Church. He was married to Miss. Agnes M. Wallace on January 7,1900 and to this union four children were born. Surviving him are his wife,three sons,Bryce W. Brooks of San Angelo,Thomas T. Brooks of Wickett,B. F. Brooks of El Campo;one daughter,Mrs. Wade Greathouse of Terrell;six grandchildren;two great grandchildren;four brothers, George W. Brooks of Brownwood, E. B. Brooks of Terrell,G. H. Brooks of Houston,Sam Brooks of San Angelo; four sisters;Mrs. G. E. Smith of Terrell,Mrs. George Stewart of Longview,Mrs. Mattie McConnell of Dallas and Mrs. H. A. McMillan of San Angelo."
