Cicero Cyril Hobbs, Sr. was born May 24, 1864 in Pleasant Valley, Stewart Co., Georgia. He was born at home at the J. C. Hobbs Family Plantation in Pleasant Valley. He was the youngest child of Jacob Cullins Hobbs and Sarah H. Harrison. He married Margaret Edna Wright, known as Maggie, May 24, 1898 in Louvale, Stewart Co., Georgia. They were married by Reverend Bone Bussey. They were the parents of eight children, George Hansford, William Ethan, Cicero Cyril Jr., Percy Cullins, Rodolph Edward, Blanchard Clinton, Sarah Margaret, and Franklin Taylor. In 1911, according to Blanchard C. Hobbs, Cicero ran a general store and post office in Louvale, Georgia. Cicero and Maggie lived in Louvale until after their last child was born in 1916 when they relocated to Richland, Georgia where they bought a home and a grocery store next door to their home. Cicero and Maggie continued operating their grocery store with the assistance of their children until Cicero's death in 1941. Cicero was sitting in his favorite chair and location, the front porch of his home in Richland, when he suffered a heart attack. He is buried beside his wife, Maggie, and his son, William, in Harmony Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery in Richland, Georgia.
