Bio

Mrs. Martha Vasek, 78, of Penelope died Wednesday, April 15, at her home. Rosary and funeral services were at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 18 at the Catholic Church of the Nativity BVM in Penelope, the Rev. Henry Drozd as celebrant. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Penelope. Mrs. Vanek was born September 20, 1902 in Ammannsville. She was a member of the Catholic Church of the Nativity BVM, the Ladies Altar Society and KJZT Lodge in Penelope. She married Frank Vanek in 1924. Survivors include her husband; two sisters, Mrs. Regina Vanek of Penelope and Mrs. Esther Beseda of Dallas. Pallbearers were Daniel Vanek, Allen W. Beseda, Wilfred Cernosek, Edmund Cernosek, Anton Peterson, Gene Marek, Eugene Hejl and Joe Thompson. Arrangements for the funeral were handled by Aderhold Funeral Home of West.
