Angeline "Angie" Hardy, pioneer of Douglas and Lusk, passed away Monday morning, March 11, 1974 in the Casper hospital. Mrs. Hardy succumbed to injuries received when high winds blew her down on a Douglas street a week ago. Angeline Lois Schmahel Hardy was born in Dobrinsko, Austria, May 21, 1886, the daughter of Antonia and Albert Schmahel. At an early age Angeline moved to the United States with her family who settled in Nebraska prior to 1906. She attended Grand Island Business College but turned to a career with the telephone company. Angeline moved to Lusk, Wyoming in 1913. She married Elmer L. Hardy in 1914. The couple had one daughter, Ruth. In 1929 the Hardys moved to Douglas where they made their permanent home. "Angie" was employed by Mountain Bell Telephone Company in Douglas from 1929 until she retired in 1951. Mrs. Hardy is survived by one sister, Mrs. Joseph Styskal of Paradise, California; her daughter, Mrs. W. R. (Ruth) Langendorf of El Cajon, California; three grandchildren, Kathleen, Barbara and Diane; and one great grandchild, also of El Cajon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer, and by two half-brothers, Johann of Vienna, Austria and Alois of Polk, Nebraska.
