Lester J. "Jr." Jackson, 73, of Sterling, died Wednesday, June 25, 2003, in Fort Collins.Visitation will be Friday, June 27 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 28 at 10 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, with Rev. Don Miles officiating.Military graveside rites by the American Legion will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens Mr. Jackson was born June 26,1929, in Sterling to Samuel Lester and Gertrude (Ahrens) Jackson. He attended Sterling schools.He served in the Marine Corps during the Korean War, from 1946 until he was discharged in 1952.On Aug. 20, 1950, he married Bernice Brunner in Raton N M. Junior lived in Sterling his entire life, working in the oil fields. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, VFW Post No. 3541, and American Legion Post No. 20. Mr. Jackson is survived by daughters Debra A. Jackson and James Rathbun, Bonnie J. Hobbs and husband Darrell,Leslie J. Martinez and husband Martin, and Judy L. Marshall and husband David, all ofSterling; brothers Robert Jackson and wife Irene, and George Jackson, all of Sterling, Lonnie Jackson and wife Ila,and Duane Jackson and wife Mary all of Fort Morgan, and David Jackson, of Denver; sisters Hazel Lambrecht and husband Francis, of Sterling, Mary Evers and husband J.D., of Sedgwick, Betty Anderson and husband Artie, of Oklahoma Linda Kallenberger and husband Jim, of Illinois, and Ila Jackson, of California; and sister-in-law Dorothy Jackson, of Sterling; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by wife Bernice, in July 2002 and brothers Allan and Ronald Jackson. Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church building fund.
