Bio

Robert "Bob" Lee Jackson, 78, of Sterling, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, in Sterling. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, at Tennant Funeral Home with Vigil and Rosary Evening Service to follow at 7 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 8, at St. Anthony Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery. Bob was born on Nov. 9, 1933, in Sterling to Samuel Lester and Gertrude (Aherns) Jackson. On June 15, 1952, he married Irene Dillie in Estes Park. Bob and Irene just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary. Bob and Irene brought nine beautiful children into the world. Bob started Bob's Dozer Service in 1967. He retired and sold the business to his son-in-law in 1992. He was awarded Boss of the Year from the Sterling Jaycees in 1983. Bob and Irene also owned the Dash Inn Drive-In Restaurant. Bob was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and the Elks. His hobbies and special interests were watching football, playing cards, watching "Bonanza" on TV and playing with his grandkids. He is survived by his wife, Irene; and children, Diana Bellendir of Greeley, Karen Callow of San Diego, Calif., Connie Troutman and husband Dale of Sterling, Jody Laumann and husband Steve of Peachtree City, Ga., Dan Jackson and wife, Jackie, of Peachtree City, Don Jackson and wife, Lynda, of Chandler, Ariz., and Johnny Jackson and wife Cristi, of Wichita, Kan.; 16 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sisters, Haxel Lambrecht and husband Francis of Sterling, Linda Jackson of Illinois, Ila Spencer of California; brothers, Duane Jackson of Fort Morgan, David Jackson of Thornton and George Jackson of Sterling. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Bob is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lester, Alan, Ronnie and Lonnie; sisters Mary Evers and Betty Anderson; son, Michael; daughter, Michelle; and great-grandson, Tommy Troutman.
