Bio

Edna Rauschhuber Thun, age 81, of West, passed away Friday afternoon, July 16, 2004 at Seton Medical Center in Austin. A rosary was recited 10 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated 10:15 a.m. Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with Rev. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial followed at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The family received visitors from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mrs. Thun was born July 12, 1933 (should be 1923) near West, the daughter of Alois and Louise (Willenborg) Rauschhuber. Edna attended schools in Wichita Falls. She married Emil F. Thun on July 28, 1953 in Tours. He preceded her in death on November 18, 1994. Edna was a seamstress for over fifty years, then recently she was a cook for the West Senior Ministries. She was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Catholic Church and a member of St. Elizabeth's Society and Catholic Life. She was also a former treasurer for the West Senior Dance Club. Edna enjoyed playing bingo and dominoes, listening to music and especially adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and enjoyed spending time with them. She also enjoyed going to Bossier City. Her parents; three brothers, Eddie Rauschhuber, Frank Rauschhuber and Raymond Rauschuber; and a son-in-law, William J. Berger Jr., all preceded her in death. Survivors include two sons, Daniel J. Thun and wife Kathy of Pflugerville, and Stephen E. Thun of Waco; two daughters, JoAnn Maynard and husband Jerry and Dorene Berger Schultz and husband Donald, all of West, three brothers, John Rauschhuber and Pat Rauschhuber both of West, and Alois Rauschhuber of Santa Clara, California; two sisters, Irene Laubert Brem of Lacy-Lakeview and Louise Bartosh of West; six grandchildren, Clara Darden and husband Ross, Kay Booth and husband William, Bryan Maynard, Donnie Berger and wife Michele, Kevin Berger and wife Paula, and Jason Berger; three great-grandchildren, Lynn Darden, Wyatt Darden and Bethany Berger; and many nieces, nephews and other realtives. Pallbearers were Donnie Berger, Kevin Berger, Jason Berger, Anthony Rauschhuber, Edmund Rauschhuber and Tommy Bartosh. Memorials may be made to St. Martin's Catholic Church Building Fund.
