Louis Svacina was born in Frystak, Moravia. His parents were Joseph Svacina and Aloisia Dlabaja. He married Mary Anna Pustejovsky on January 21, 1911 at St. Martin's Catholic Church, Tours, McLennan Co., Texas. Obit - July 14, 1972, Waco News-Tribune West - Louis Svacina, 85, of 600 west Highlands, died Friday in a West hospital. Requiem Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of Assumption, Rev. Earl Hedberg as celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. today at Kotch Funeral Chapel in West. Mr. Svacina was born in Frystak, Czechoslovakia, and came to this country at age 20, settling in the Tours area. He worked for a short time in the coal mines at Thurber. He married Mary Pustejovsky Nov. 21, 1911 at Tours. The couple moved to a farm near Penelope where they lived 39 years. When Mr. Svacina retired in 1950, they moved to West. They celebrated their 60th anniversary Nov. 21, 1971. Mr. Svacina was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption and SPJST Lodge No. 6 of Cottonwood. He also served as secretary of SPJST Lodge 6 of Cottonwood. He also served as secretary of SPJST Lodge No. 55 at Tours several years. Survivors are his wife; three sons, Alois Svacina of Abbott, Albin Svacina of Penelope and Henry Svacina of West; three daughters, Mrs. W.R. (Annie) Petter of Hubbard, Mrs. Joe F. (Mary) Karlik of West, and Mrs. Clarence (Sophie) Berger of McGregor; a sister, Mrs. Carolina Sefcik of Czechoslovakia; 25 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
