Son of John and Elizabeth (Williamson) Vaughn. He married Sarah Evalina Perkins, 14 April 1842, Lowndes Co., Mississippi. They were the parents of 10 children: Samuel C., Joseph Wilbur, Mary Elizabeth, John M., William Bolivar, Amanda T., Henry Luther, Nancy Alice, and George Parham Vaughn.
