From DeLories Robinson Vaughn- The Columbus Register Obituary 1925 "When on last Saturday as the sun was sinking behind the western hills, Mr. Joseph Wilbur Vaughn closed his eyes and sank to his last sleep, there passed from out midst one of the few old time southern gentlemen who are left to remind us of the old south and those who so gallantly fought for the lost cause. He was a Christian gentleman and illustrated his faith by his daily work. He was a reserved man with the highest conception of what was honorable and he molded his daily life along this line. His life was a book whose pages bore no stain. When the sun set, this good man passed on to that peaceful rest which he so truly deserved. Just two weeks ago Mr. Vaughn's oldest brother, Mr. Sam Vaughn of Starkville, who was 82 years of age was too called home. Out of a large family, Mr. W. B. Vaughan of this section is the only member left."
