Bio
The West side of the Mc Daniel headstone in Alpine, gives the names of the children of John Mc Daniel Sr. and his second wife Sarah Buys. Many of Sarah's children died young or as infants. These children are buried in Alpine. Their son John Mc Daniel Jr. who died when he was sixteen is also buried here. John's older sister Christina Mc Daniel Carter told her children and grandchildren that her brother John had been killed by a bear while on the mountain East of Alpine. After her husband John died Sarah Buys moved to Provo, with her younger children, where some of her older children were living. She worked as a seamtress for Taylor Brothers to support herself and younger children. She died in Provo and is buried there with several of her children.
