Bio
Tommy L. Uptmore, age 71 of Waco, passed away early Tuesday morning, October 8, 1996, at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. October 9 at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Martin Rabbitte. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Martin Rabbitte officiating. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery near Tours. Mr. Uptmore was born November 21, 1924 in Tours, the son of Tom and Lena Uptmore. In 1943 during World War II, he enlisted in the Navy and served as a 1st Class Seaman. He married Mary Pearson on September 14, 1946 in Waco. He worked as a Bias Operator for General Tire and Rubber Co. for 34 years until he retired in June, 1980. He was a member of United Rubber Workers Union and St. Louise Catholic Church in Waco. He enjoyed the hobby of restoring trucks. He is survived by his wife, Mary Lois Uptmore of Waco; three sons, Dwyaine Lewis Uptmore and Tommy Daryl Uptmore, both of Lorena, and William Lewis Uptmore of Lewisville; three sisters, Madline Shelton of Fort Worth, Evelyn Varner of Hewitt and Delores Humphers of Waco; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews including Ola Cochran of Robinson and Terri Nix of Waco.
