JOHN ROBERT METCALF SR. John Robert Metcalf Sr., 77, of 99 Gun Club Drive, Marshall, N.C. died Tuesday, June 12, 2007, at his residence. He was a native of Madison County, N.C and a son of the late Chauncey Metcalf and Ella Jane Callahan Metcalf and is also preceded in death by a son, Roger Dale Metcalf, sister, Janice Metcalf, and a brother Fred Metcalf. Mr. Metcalf was a retired heavy equipment operator, a U. S. Army veteran and a devout Christian. Surviving are his sons Michael Dean Metcalf and his wife Wanda of Alexander, John Robert Metcalf Jr. and his wife Rosie of Marshall; sister, Emily Thomas of Weaverville; brothers, Zane Metcalf of Marshall, Dale Metcalf of Winston-Salem and Joe Lynn Metcalf of Marshall; twelve grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 14, 2007 at Metcalf-Bruce Cemetery. The Rev, Jim Ballard officiated. Blue Ridge Funeral Home handled arrangements.
