Husband of Adella May Carson and Iva Luella Davis Rickey. Son of Nicholas Ewald and Katherine Schwabel. OBITUARY THE RUSSELL UNION-TRIBUNE Russell, Iowa Thursday, March 2, 1933 NICHOLAS H. EWALD Nicholas H. Ewald, son of Nicholas and Katherine Ewald, was born August 2, 1871, at Russell, Iowa, and passed away February 21, 1933. He had spent his entire life in this vicinity. On March 7, 1895, he was united in marriage to Adella May Carson. To this union four daughters were born: Mrs. Ethel Price of Hemingford, Nebr., Mrs. Mabel Lindeman of Russell, Mrs. Myrtle Whitlatch of Chariton, and Mrs. Hazel Moffitt of Boone. On January 16, 1917, Mrs. Ewald was called in death. On June 3, 1919, he was again united in marriage to Mrs. Iva Louella Rickey. To this union one daughter was born, Gladys N. He was also a father to his three step-children: Dorothy, Marian and Paul Rickey. He was converted at Greenville and united with the Methodist church when but a lad, and has continued his membership all through these years. He was taken very ill Tuesday afternoon, February 21, and passed away in a few hours at the age of 61 years, 4 months and 19 days. He leaves, besides his immediate family, his aged father, one brother, Albert, of El Paso, Texas, and four sisters, Emma, Mattie, Carrie and Jennie, all of Russell. Also eight grandchildren survive. Funeral services were held at the Russell Methodist church Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clocl, conducted by Rev. J. E. Clark, assisted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was made in the Russell cemetery.
