Bertha was born in Hill county Texas to Hanna Ellen Gibson and William Austin Key. She was the youngest of ten children. She married Will A Burnham in 1914 and they had seven children Lily M, Frankie L,Mollie B,Willis B,Effie M,Thomas E and Hanna Louise.
