Bio

CORPL CO D 12 ARKANSAS INF CSA William Austin Key was born Dec. 30,1841 in Jasper Co.,Georgia to Mariah Smith and Dr. Richard Childress Key. He married Mary J. Unk. in 1864 in Arkansas. There were four children John R., Annie M., Georgie A. and a infant. W.A. Key of company D in the 12 regiment of Assc. Caskil Vors. M. Ringer commanding officer of his regiment when released as prisoner of war. William married Hannah Ellen Gibson Dec. 16, 1873 in Corsicana, Navarro Co., Tx. This marriage was blessed with ten children. Elder W., Wesley Edith, Alerter,W.A.D., Herbert Pierce, William Brisco, Washington M,Alice Mariah, Frank S. and Bertha E. Key. William suffered for years with an eye injury from the war and passed away Dec. 1, 1914.
