Cyntha Alice was my grandmother on my father's side.
Cyntha Alice was the daughter of Jacob and Sarah Jane Eastep. Cyntha married Nathan Blackburn "Jake" Curlee on December 8, 1894, and they moved to Jackson County, Texas, in 1917 and settled on a farm near what was then called the Matilda Booster Station, where the family lived for a number of years. In 1918, the influenza pandemic (also known as the Spanish Flu or La Grippe)that was sweeping the world also reached Jackson County. Alice nursed several family members and friends during this epidemic and unfortunately, became ill herself. She eventually was struck down with this terrible illness and passed away. Jake went on to raise their children and never remarried as "Al" was the love of his life. I wish I could have known you, Grandma. NOTE: Bio was written by granddaughter, Debbie Boudar.
