Bio

The Rev. Roy Hughen, 60, a native of Robertsdale and resident of Innerarity Point, Fla., died June 4, 1996. Survivors include his wife, Frances Hughen of Innerarity Point; four daughters, Debra Henderson of Atlanta, Edna Hollingsworth of Atmore, Kitty Beck and Donna Dickinson, both of Pensacola; one sister, Gladys Boykin of Eight Mile; five brothers, Otis Hughen of Dallas, Texas, Osie Hughen of Summerdale, Donnie Hughen, Walter Lowery Sr. and Jack Lowery, all of Robertsdale; 12 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. Services were held June 8 at Mack Funeral Home's Robertsdale chapel with the Rev. David McVay officiating. Burial was in New hope United Methodist Church Cemetery in Gateswood. Roy was married to Frances Allen of Styx River and was well known here and throughout most of the county. He was pastor of Styx River Baptist church for a time, beginning Sunday June 12, 1983, coming in at a time there was no preacher here and building attendance back up to a very nice figure. He was 60 years old at the time of his death. He leaves his wife, Frances, four daughters, 12 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
