Virgil Curtis Wing 1931 - 2008 Master Sgt. Virgil Curtis Wing, U.S. Air Force retired, age 76, of Crestview, Fla., passed away Tuesday, May 6, 2008. He was born on Sept. 5, 1931, in Biloxi, Miss., and moved to Crestview in 1959. He retired with 20 years of service with the Air Force, serving in the Korean conflict and Vietnam era. After retirement, he worked with Sears. He was a Baptist by faith and an avid fisherman. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Janiece Wing of Crestview, Fla.; five children, Michael and wife Freda Wing of Crestview, Debra and husband Steve Hitson of Crestview, Diana and husband Neil Melick of West Palm Beach, Fla., Susanne Eliason of Crestview, and Lisa and David O'Brien of Crestview; one brother, Herman Wing of Bridgewater, Va.; twin sister, Juanita Browder of Montgomery, Ala.; 19 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 9, in the chapel of Brackney Funeral Service with Pastor Tommy Batson officiating. Burial will follow in Live Oak Park Memorial Cemetery, with military honors. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
