Wayne County News Published March 19, 2009 EDITH BOYLES MALONE PURVIS Oct. 22, 1918-March 10, 2009 Funeral services for Edith Boyles Malone Purvis, 90, of Waynesboro, were held Saturday, March 14, 2009, at Boyles Chapel United Methodist Church. Interment was in the Boyles Chapel Cemetery. Born Tuesday, Oct. 22, 1918, she was a native of Wayne County, and a homemaker. She died Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at Pine View Health Care Center in Waynesboro. Survivors include three sons, William Earl Malone and Joseph C. Malone, both of Cross City, Fla., and John L. Malone of Waynesboro; four daughters, Jeanette Dearman of Waynesboro, Geneva Cochran of Clara and Faye Craven and Elizabeth Gatlin, both of Waynesboro; three sisters, Lucille Gagnon of Newman, Ga., Joann Busby of Laurel and Ethel Cooley of the Strengthford community; 30 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 48 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by both of her husbands, Roy E. Malone and Harb Purvis; her parents, Nute Boyles and Lottie Street Boyles; a daughter, Anice Carpenter; three brothers, Clayton Boyles, Harold Boyles and Albert Boyles; three sisters, Addie Lou Parker, Eva Hendershot and Josephine Boyles; a granddaughter, Vanessa Dearman Dyess; and three great-grandchildren. Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro was in charge of arrangements.
