Lawrence County News IL Wed, 25 Jan 1928 "OBITUARY Charles R. Stevenson, son of G. W. Stevenson, was born on a farm east of Birds, March 6, 1882; died at the home of his brother, Fred Stevenson, west of Pinkstaff, January 8, 1928, at the age of 45 years, 10 months and 2 days He was married to Anna Shank and to this union were born three children, the eldest dying in infancy. The surviving children are Vivita Meeker, of Flat Rock, and Carl, of Birds. He also leaves two brothers and one sister, Fred of Bond; Henry and Mrs. Ed Piper, both of Hammond, Ind., also two half brothers and three half sisters, Floyd of Lawrenceville, Ira of Little Rock, Ark.; Mrs. Aaron Etzwiler, of Lawrenceville; Mrs. Jake Grear and Mrs. Harry Longnecker, both of Millerville. He was a good citizen and a moral man. He is gone, but his memory will remain in the hearts of those who lived him. Funeral was preached at the F M church by the pastor, W. M. Fitzgerrel." Rileyville, Ill Jan. 9. - Charles Stevenson, aged 46 years, passed away Sunday morning 8.10 o’clock at the home of his brother, Fred Stevenson, west of Pinkstaff. Death ended an illness of several weeks from spinal trouble. Mr Stevenson had been confined to his bed for the past two weeks. The deceased is survived by his widow, two children, two brothers and one sister; also two half-brothers and two half-sisters, and a number of other relatives. Funeral services will be conducted from the M P church in Pinkstaff Tuesday afternoon at 2 o’clock and interment in the Derr cemetery east of Pinkstaff.” Contributor: Explorer (48206092) Regarding birth year on tombstone: 1880 census in June lists him as 3 months meaning he would be born in Mar 1880. Death record says 1882 and tombstone says 1873. Death record lists his parents whom he lives with on the 1880 census so there appears to be an error in his birth year.
