The Cameron Herald January 16, 2009 FINN Lina Ida Merkord Finn, 81, of Thorndale died Jan. 13 at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett. Celebration of life services were held Thursday, Jan. 15, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Rev. James Mann officiating. Burial followed at St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery in Thorndale. She was born on Feb. 13, 1927 to Louis and Ida (Walther) Merkord in Granger. She married Clarence Finn on Jan. 6, 1946 in Wuthrich Hill and this marriage was blessed with five children. They spent most of their married life in the Thorndale area farming. Mrs. Finn also worked as a seamstress for Taylor Bedding. This quiet, soft spoken, Southern lady was a hard worker, a wonderful cook who enjoyed making kolaches, tamales, gardening, and growing fruit trees. She adored her family was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She is preceded in death by her parents, a son, Richard Finn, five brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years, Clarence Finn; daughters, Linda Schmale and husband, Gerald of Taylor; Betty Jones and husband, Ronnie of Beasley; Darlene Warwick and husband, Elvin of Rogers; Rose Machu and husband, Eugene of Taylor; nine grandchildren and nine great grandchildren as well as many other relatives and friends. Grandsons, Joe Jones, Rodney Rodriguez, Jason Schmale, Tom Jones, Kevin Warwick, and Michael Machu served as pallbearers. Providence Funeral Home in Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
