This marriage was blessed with three children. Martha spent her life farming with her husband in the Hutto, San Angelo, Beyersville and Browns Gin area. After retiring from farming they moved to Taylor. Martha was a very Christian Southern lady who loved her Lord and was a member of the Brethren Christian Sisters. She spent many hours working hard in the fields. Martha was a strong, mild and sweet natured lady. She was known for wonderful kolaches and beautiful flowers in her yard. Her family teased her about wanting to always know where her "flashlight was located." This loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother will truly be missed by her many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank J. Kokes Jr., who died June 29, 1992, five brothers and two sisters. Martha is survived by her daughter, Dorothy Kubacak and husband Raymond of Temple; sons, Eugene Kokes and wife Mary, and Marvin Kokes and wife Joyce, both of Taylor; brother, Robert Merkord and wife Cheri of Wimberley; sisters, Lena Finn and husband Clarence of Thorndale, Evelyn Wilhelm and husband Ted of Austin, and Mary Lee Chalupa of Sulpher Springs; sister-in-law, Dorothy Kokes of San Angelo; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous other relatives and friends.
