Extracted from the Fort Bend Herald, January 12, 2009: Olin Henry Hafer, 86, died Friday, January 9, 2009 at a local hospital. He was born October 4, 1922 in Beasley, Texas to Louis and Minnie Hafer. Olin worked as a truck driver for Dixie Truck Line for many years and retired from Nalco Trucking. He has held offices including being past president of the Sons of Herman, past commander, Bingo Chairman and Honor Guard with the American Legion Post 271 in Rosenberg, VFW Post 3903 in Rosenberg and Vice President of Slavonic Insurance. Olin served his country during WWII in the U.S. Army. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. Survivors: his wife of 62 years; a son; a daughter; a brother; 4 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by: his son, Bobby Gene Hafer; 3 brothers: Clarence, Willie, and Alvin Hafer; and a sister Emma Hafer. Burial: Greenlawn Memorial Park
