He was born on February 23, 1927, in Beasley, Texas to Louis William Hafer and Minnie E. (Henrichsen) Hafer. Alton honorably served our country in the U.S. Army. He held membership at Faith Lutheran Church in Weimar, Texas, as well as the Hermann Sons, the American Legion and the V.F.W. Alton retired from Entex after 40+ years of service. After retirement, Alton kept busy by traveling in their RV all over the USA with friends and the Allegro RV Club; doing woodworking (holiday yard cutouts, toys for children, belt and wallet racks), polka dancing and entertaining at nursing/assisted living homes with the Polka Lovers Club; playing dominoes with friends; This loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend will be missed. In addition to his parents, Alton is preceded in death by his sister, Emma Hafer and his brothers, Alvin, Willie, Clarence and Olin Hafer. Survivors include his wife of over 76 years; son and daughter-in-law; two daughters and sons-in-law; five grandchildren; three great grandchildren; along with extended family and friends. [Names removed to protect the living] Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, August 23, 2025, in the Chapel of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home in Rosenberg with Rev. Herb Beyer officiating. Burial with military honors to follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
