GEORGE IVEY JOHNSON George Ivey Johnson, 93, went to be with the Lord on Friday, Jan. 18, 2002. Mr. Johnson was born in Granite Falls, N.C., on April 15, 1908, and resided in Panama City for over 50 years. He enjoyed a long healthy life working for the Lance Cookie Company, later joining the Navy where he served his country in World War II. He was a retired Civil Service employee of the Naval Coastal Systems Center and was also a retired self-employed carpenter and contractor. Mr. Johnson was a talented carpenter and cabinetmaker, an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed these activities with his family and friends. He was an active member of First United Methodist Church and the Mack Lewis Men's Sunday school class. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Theatrice; two sons, George Marvin Johnson and wife, Sarah, of Lynn Haven, Bobby Gene Johnson and wife, Joy, of Pananma City; one daughter, Gwen J. Wysong of Niceville; eight grandchildren, Traci Pearce and husband, Keith, of Atlanta, Ga., Timothy Hobbs of Goldsboro, N.C., Kathy Trawick and husband, Billy, of Oxford, Ala., Tonia Wysong of Tallahassee, Brently, Marty and Kelly Johnson, Cheryl Sheffield and husband, Ed, all of Panama City; three stepgrandchildren, Norton and Chad Arrant, Amber Cooper; six greatgrandchildren, Kyle and Cole Pierce, Kaitlyn Trawick, Cindy, Brandi and Ashley Sheffield, and Christopher Diaz; one borther, Gene Johnson of Granite Falls, N.C.; and numerous friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandaughter, Cynthia Diaz.
